Apple has officially unveiled the iPhone 17 Pro, a new flagship smartphone that incorporates the most advanced Apple technologies. At the September presentation, the company focused on performance and cameras.

A hot new product

The smartphone is equipped with the new A19 Pro processor, created using the 3nm process technology. It has 6 processor cores, 6 graphics cores (1 more than the regular A19) and is 4 times more productive than the A18 in AI calculations. The company claims that this processor is as much as 40% more productive than the A18 Pro. Of course, such performance does not come easy - the iPhone 17 Pro has a liquid cooling system. Most of the smartphone's surface is covered by an aluminium radiator with deionised water circulating inside. The liquid allows heat to dissipate faster over a large area, and the absence of ions makes it dielectric in case the camera is depressurised due to damage.

After years of using its own modem chip in watches, Apple has finally moved on to using it in the iPhone 17 Pro. So, the Apple C1X chip will now be responsible for mobile data transmission, while the Apple N1 chip will be responsible for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Thread.

A completely new body

The smartphone has a completely redesigned internal layout - the aluminium chassis now forms a metal back cover with a round hole for MagSafe, while the rest of the back glass is purely decorative.

There is no longer a titanium version - the manufacturer claims that the new space-standard aluminium is 20 times better than the old one, and the final treatment is carried out by triple anodising so that surface damage does not affect the colour. The new generation of Ceramic Shield 2 protective glass is three times more scratch-resistant and covers both the front and back of the smartphone.

The best cameras

Traditionally, the manufacturer focuses on cameras in the Pro line. All 3 cameras have 48 megapixel sensors. This is done in order to simulate optical zoom in a wide range using crop and AI algorithms. In addition to a seamless transition between modules, this allows a 4x optical zoom to turn into an 8x "optical level" zoom, and the maximum zoom is x12.

The company announced Genlock technology, which allows for easy synchronisation of video from multiple cameras. The feature is clearly aimed at professional filmmakers and bloggers who shoot with several cameras at the same time.

Along with the iPhone 17 Pro, Apple presented transparent and silicone cases, as well as a new TechWoven that is resistant to dirt and scratches.

Prices start at $1099 for the 256 GB version. For the first time, Apple has released a 2TB version of the smartphone, but this configuration costs almost twice as much as the basic one - $2000. Pre-orders will be available from 12 September, and the new product will go on sale on 19 September.
