Youtube opens video dubbing feature to all creators
YouTube is officially rolling out its multilingual dubbing feature to all content creators, following a two-year test that began back in 2023 with stars like MrBeast, Jamie Oliver, and Mark Rober. Millions of creators will now be able to add dubbing to their videos in multiple languages, giving them access to a global audience without having to create separate channels or manually dub content.
Initially, creators used third-party dubbing services, but later YouTube integrated its own AI-based tool, Google's Gemini technology. It allows you to automatically create voiceovers, preserving the voice features, intonation, emotions, and style of the original author. According to the company, those who tested the feature received an average of more than 25% of views from languages other than the main one. For example, the channel of chef Jamie Oliver tripled the number of views after the introduction of multilingual voiceover.
In addition to audio, YouTube is also testing localised thumbnails that adapt to the user's language. This allows creators to create more personalised video covers that resonate better with international audiences.
This update is a big step towards the globalisation of content on the platform. Now even small local channels can reach new markets without having to spend resources on manual dubbing.
