Amazon-owned Zoox has launched its own autopilot carpooling service in Las Vegas. The first rides can be booked for free via the Zoox app, but so far only between popular spots and around the Las Vegas Strip, a neon-lit stretch of Las Vegas Boulevard with high-end casino-hotels.

Here's What We Know

Special boarding and disembarkation areas have appeared near Resorts World and AREA15, where passengers are greeted by Zoox consultants who help them understand the app and answer questions about the robotaxi.

The app displays the robotaxi number, arrival time and journey details. Once completed, feedback can be left to help Zoox improve the service before scaling.

Zoox emphasises that it is the first fully autonomous rideshare service with robotaxis built from the ground up. CEO Aicha Evans said Las Vegas is a city of colourful experiences and it's the perfect place for Zoox to debut.
