The Age of Empires II DE strategy will be updated with the Chronicles expansion: Alexander the Great

Real-time strategy game Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition will receive a new major DLC "Chronicles: Alexander the Great". The DLC will include 18 new story scenarios with thematic stories in the style of a historical mosaic and 3 new civilisations (Macedonians, Thracians, and Puru). The Chronicles: Alexander the Great will be released on 14 October 2025 on Steam, Microsoft Store, Xbox, and PlayStation 5.

What's included in the expansion:

• 18 scenarios in a large campaign, of which 16 are for the Macedonians, 1 for the Thracians, 1 for the Puru
• 3 new civilisations with unique units: Macedonians - phalanxes and cavalry; Thracians - fast raids and unique infantrymen; Puru - war elephants and archers with bamboo bows
• Animated mosaic cutscenes - artistic style in the spirit of the era
• Unique army - 16 bonus units and 4 technologies
• New graphics for siege units and 13 music tracks

Civilisations from Chronicles will not be available in ranked matches - the expansion is focused on single-player games. Pre-orders are already available with a limited-time 15% discount.
