After the events of the game in 2014, he was thirteen years in a secret laboratory, where he was genetically experimented on by a man nicknamed Baron. His goal was to create a perfect hybrid of zombie and human, but Crane was able to break free and now wants to take revenge on his enemy. As a result of the experiments, Crane's blood contains zombie DNA particles, which gave him the ability to briefly transform into a monster while gaining immense physical strength - hence the subtitle The Beast.
