Google integrates Gemini into Chrome - AI agent will be available for free
Google continues to popularise its own AI assistant Gemini and has announced its integration into the Chrome browser.
Here's What We Know
Owners of macOS and Windows computers will be able to access Gemini directly in Chrome and will not need a paid subscription to do so - this is the version already available to US users. Also Gemini in Chrome will appear on Android, and in the future support for the application will be implemented on iOS.
The AI agent will have access to browsing history and open tabs in the browser. Gemini can restore closed pages, search for product information and match them. The user can ask the AI to order groceries, make restaurant reservations, buy tickets, think of an itinerary, and perform other routine tasks.
Gemini will also be integrated with Google Workspace and various services including YouTube, Calendar and Maps.
The company claims that this is the biggest update in the history of Chrome. As a reminder, Google's browser retains 70% of PC and mobile users, and with the free Gemini, we are sure this figure will become even higher.
