Media: OpenAI is working on a line of AI gadgets - Jony Ive's new products will hit the market by the end of next year
OpenAI has made great strides in developing neural networks and AI models. Now the company will try its hand at releasing its own line of high-tech gadgets.
Here's What We Know
As reported by The Information, OpenAI is making full use of the vast experience of former Apple chief designer Jony Ive and is preparing to release several AI devices.
The company is expected to be the first to offer a smart speaker without a display, and later customers will also be able to buy smart glasses, a digital voice recorder and a wearable "pin".
To realise its ambitions, OpenAI has signed a contract with Luxshare and is in talks with Goertek. Both companies are Apple partners and are involved in the production of the iPhone, AirPods, HomePod and Apple Watch.
The first devices from OpenAI are expected in late 2026 or early 2027.
Sam Altman has previously talked about plans to develop a family of AI devices and the information published by The Information fits squarely within that paradigm.
