Bloomberg has shared interesting information about the first foldable iPhone model, which is expected to be released in autumn 2026.

Here's What We Know

In the new issue of the weekly news digest Power On, authoritative insider and journalist Bloomberg Mark Gurman shared Apple's plans.

He reported that the iPhone Fold (the name is conditional) will look like "two ultra-thin iPhone Air, connected together." The author knows that the device will be quite thin, but it will probably yield to devices from other manufacturers in terms of compactness. According to Gurman's arithmetic, a folded smartphone from Apple will be about 11 mm thick (the iPhone Air is 5.6 mm thick), while the thickness of, for example, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold is 10.8 mm and the Galaxy Fold7 is 8.9 mm.

However, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes that the Fold iPhone will be 4.5mm thick when unfolded, hence it will match its nearest competitors when folded.

As for the cost of the iPhone Fold, Gurman has no good news. As he expects, the novelty will sell for at least $2000.

Flashback

According to previous insights of Mina-Chi Kuo, the diagonal of the inner screen of the foldable gadget will be 7.8″ without folds, and the outer screen will be 5.5″. When folded, the device will be 9 to 9.5mm thick, while when unfolded it will be 4.5mm to 4.8mm thick.

The foldable iPhone will get a titanium alloy body, dual rear camera and single front camera, and Touch ID instead of Face ID.

The screens for the new device are expected to be supplied by Samsung Display, and according to leaks Apple has ordered 15-20 million displays.

An important innovation will be the use of liquid metal to make the hinge, which will increase the strength of the smartphone and make the crease between the displays unnoticeable.
