The Fiat 500 now exists not only in an electric version of the 500e. The new Fiat 500 Hybrid is officially announced for the Italian market and has begun preparations for appearance in other European countries.

Here's What We Know

Until recently, two generations of the Fiat 500 coexisted on the market. The endlessly modernised 500 with an internal combustion engine (the previous iteration) was sold alongside an electric version of the 500e (the current generation). Right now, only the electric 500e is available for purchase, but a new version, the Fiat 500 Hybrid, will soon join it. Although the 500e platform was not originally intended for petrol engines, the Italians did put one under the bonnet.

From the announcement for the Italian market, it became known that the new hybrid is inferior in power to its predecessor. The Fiat 500 Hybrid, withdrawn from production last year, was equipped with a 12-volt mild-hybrid system with a 1.0-litre engine developing 70bhp. This power unit is still used in the Panda. The new 500 Hybrid Torino also features a 999 cm³ three-cylinder petrol engine, but the mild-hybrid system now produces 65 hp and 92 Nm.

The electric 500e accelerates from a standing start to 100 km/h in 9.5 seconds (95 hp) or 9 seconds (118 hp). The 500 Hybrid takes 16.2 seconds to reach 100 kilometres per hour. But the top speed of the mild-hybrid version is higher - 155 km/h versus 135-150 km/h of the 500e. Average fuel consumption of the 500 Hybrid is 5.3 litres/100 km. Transmission is 6-speed manual.

The special version of Fiat 500 Hybrid Torino will be the first to go on sale in Italy at a price from 18 950 euros, including recycling and financing through the programme Stellantis Financial Services Italia. Later, the base version will be available for less than 17,000 euros. The full presentation of the model range is scheduled for November 2025. Deliveries are expected to start in February 2026.
