Xiaomi Pad 8 tablets will receive extended Mac support - iPad-like screen streaming
Xiaomi is preparing a new series of Pad 8 tablets, and an important innovation will be enhanced interaction with Apple devices. Pad 8 will be able to act as a second display for Mac computers. This means that users will be able to use the tablet as an additional screen to expand their workspace, for example, for video editing, graphics work or simply for more convenient multitasking.
The feature will be implemented through a new version of the proprietary HyperOS shell, which will support wireless connection to macOS. Xiaomi is already testing this feature on internal builds, and it should appear in the Pad 8, Pad 8 Pro, and probably the Pad 8 Max.
This solution is positioned as an alternative to Apple's Sidecar, a feature that allows the iPad to be used as an additional screen for a Mac. Xiaomi aims to create a similar ecosystem focused on cross-platform interaction between Android devices and macOS.
What is the Pad 8 Pro?
Xiaomi has confirmed that the Pad 8 Pro will debut on 25 September. The tablet will be powered by the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor. The display will also be of the flagship level - a "3.2K" panel with a pixel density of 345 PPI and a maximum brightness of 800 nits is expected. In addition to DC dimming, Xiaomi is expected to showcase advanced eye protection technologies, such as nano soft light.
