The manufacturer of popular gaming peripherals Logitech has introduced an unusual keyboard Signature Slim Solar+ K980, whose battery is charged by the built-in solar panel.

Here's What We Know

The solar panel built into the top of the case allows you to charge the keyboard from both natural and artificial light, eliminating the need to plug in a cable or change batteries. The solar panel will last for 10 years of service, after which it will need to be replaced.

Logitech claims the keyboard will last up to four months on a full charge, even when used in the dark. The manufacturer is so confident in its idea that it didn't include a port for wired charging.

Signature Slim Solar+ K980 supports simultaneous connection to three devices and easily switches between them using special keys. This makes it ideal for those who work on multiple gadgets at once. Connectivity is via Bluetooth Low Energy or the Logi Bolt USB receiver.

The keys have a low profile and quiet stroke, making typing comfortable and virtually silent. The device is compatible with Windows, macOS, ChromeOS, Android and iOS, and its body is made from recycled plastic, emphasising Logitech's commitment to eco-friendly products.

The Signature Slim Solar+ K980 is on sale now in graphite colour.

The recommended price is $99.99.
