Big discounts didn't help: Acura has officially cancelled the all-electric ZDX

Acura has officially confirmed that it will not resume production of the all-electric ZDX crossover.

Here's What We Know

Until recently, the Acura ZDX was technically on pause - the Japanese brand skipped the 2025 model year after shutting down a joint project with General Motors. Now the automaker has confirmed to Carscoops publication that the ZDX will not return to the assembly line. The decision coincided with the end of the $7,500 federal tax credit for electric vehicles in the United States.

Although the model has reached the end of the road, Acura emphasised that the ZDX was the "foundation" on which the brand's new hybrid vehicles and the all-electric Acura RSX are being built. This new model will be made at the Ohio facility starting in the second half of 2026.

In the meantime, Acura has promised ZDX owners full support through its dealer network, including service, parts and warranty coverage.

The Acura ZDX is built on GM's Ultium platform. Technically, it is the closest relative of the Cadillac Lyriq, Chevrolet Blazer EV and Honda Prologue.

This news doesn't come as a shock considering the model never really took off in sales. Even discounts of up to $30,000 off the recommended retail price didn't help. The full price of the 2024 model ranged from $64,500 for the A-Spec RWD version to $74,500 for the Type S Performance.
