Xiaomi launches Porsche-inspired car customisation service
The Chinese tech giant has unveiled a car personalisation programme.
Here's What We Know
Xiaomi founder and CEO Lei Jun announced the launch of the new "Xiaomi Customisation Service" during the company's big new product launch. The programme, launched with the YU7 crossover and SU7 Ultra sedan, allows buyers to personalise exterior and interior details. Such services are often found with premium manufacturers, but Xiaomi is positioning it as more affordable.
The program requires an 80,000 yuan ($11,200) deposit and includes a 90-day period to confirm or cancel an order. The first set of options are five new colour options for the YU7: Amethyst Purple, Racing Red, Sprout Yellow, Twilight Rose and Flowing Gold Pink Matte. Xiaomi plans to expand the palette to 100 individual colours over the next three years.
Customisation goes beyond paint jobs. Buyers can choose from rim designs, Brembo brake caliper colours and personalised nameplates. Gold inlay, white ceramic and carbon fibre options are available.
Interior customisation is available for the YU7 Max with two new alcantara-based colour schemes: blue-black and black with fluorescent yellow, complemented by personalised stitching, coloured seatbelts and natural ash wood trim.
