The authors of the popular YouTube channel PhoneBuff, which specializes in objective tests of smartphones and other gadgets, compared the battery life of the three main flagships of 2025 — iPhone 17 Pro Max, Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, and Google Pixel 10 Pro XL.

What is known

During the test, the smartphones were subjected to identical workloads, including social media, video, games, and web surfing.

All three smartphones have approximately the same battery capacity:

  • iPhone 17 Pro Max — 5088 mAh
  • Galaxy S25 Ultra — 5000 mAh
  • Pixel 10 Pro XL — 5200 mAh

Despite the fact that the Pixel has the formally largest battery — it was the first to drop out of the competition, which happened after 10 hours and 45 minutes.

In the duel between Galaxy S25 Ultra and iPhone 17 Pro Max, the Apple smartphone won — it lasted for 13 hours and 5 minutes, while its competitor from Samsung gave up after 11 hours and 50 minutes.

Conclusion: iPhone 17 Pro Max not only caught up with its competitors in battery capacity but also surpassed them in actual operating time. This is especially important, given that Apple has long used less capacious batteries, compensating for this with iOS optimization and chips.
