Nvidia has officially approved Samsung’s 12-layer high-speed HBM3E memory chips for use in its flagship AI accelerators GB300. This is an important breakthrough for the South Korean giant, which has been trying to obtain this certification for more than a year and a half.

Details

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang sent a letter to Samsung Electronics chairman Jay Yoo. Lee intending to purchase HBM3E chips. This means that Samsung has finally entered Nvidia’s supply chain and will join the profitable business of building artificial intelligence infrastructure.

Previously, Samsung chips failed Nvidia’s quality tests due to overheating issues. The company changed the design several times, and in the first half of 2025, completely redesigned it to eliminate these shortcomings.

Although Samsung is unlikely to supply large volumes of HBM3E due to the industry’s shift to HBM4, this deal paves the way for future supplies of the latest chips.
