The portal Android Headlines published exclusive information and detailed renders of the Samsung Galaxy XR mixed reality headset, which is known under the working title Project Moohan.

The device is created in partnership with Google and Qualcomm and runs on a new Android XR platform supplemented by the proprietary One UI XR interface. Galaxy XR is positioned as a direct competitor to the Apple Vision Pro and Meta Quest 3, offering advanced visualization, tracking, and interaction technologies.

What is known

Galaxy XR is equipped with a 4K micro-OLED display with a density of 4032 PPI and a total of 29 million pixels — more than the Vision Pro. It is powered by the Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 chip, which provides a performance boost of up to 15% in graphics and 20% in CPU compared to previous processors.

The package will include two controllers with analog sticks, haptic feedback, and tracking in six degrees of freedom. The headset features six front-facing cameras, including infrared sensors for tracking eyes, depth, and gestures. It also includes noise-canceling microphones and voice control. The weight of the device is 545 grams, and the ergonomic design includes soft pads and adjustable fastenings.

The One UI XR user interface includes:

  • launcher with Samsung, Google, and Netflix apps;
  • voice assistant Gemini;
  • spatial icons, settings, and quick access to functions;
  • support for gestures, gaze tracking, and voice commands.

The body features a touchpad, volume control, launcher call button, and a port for connecting an external battery.

When to expect

The presentation of the Galaxy XR is expected on October 21-22, 2025. The approximate price is $1800.
