Nissan Qashqai with the new e-Power system showed fuel consumption of 5.4 l/100 km in ADAC test
The German organization ADAC tested the updated Nissan Qashqai with the hybrid e-Power system and recorded fuel consumption of 5.4 l/100 km. This is almost 15% less than the previous version.
What is known
The e-POWER system represents a series hybrid. The gasoline engine here does not drive the wheels but only generates electricity for the electric motor. That is, the car moves solely on electric drive, but even if the battery discharges, it can continue driving thanks to a 55-liter fuel tank.
The updated e-Power system received a 1.5-liter turbo engine with STARC technology, which increased thermal efficiency to 42%. According to Nissan, this is one of the best indicators in the industry. The result is less noise, a reduction in emissions from 116 to 102 g/km according to WLTP, and the comfort of an electric car.
The total range now is 1018 km (and according to WLTP — even 1222 km), which is closer to the figures of diesel cars. In addition, the service interval has been extended from 15,000 to 20,000 km.
ADAC noted that at a speed of 130 km/h, the noise in the cabin decreased by 5.6 dB, and now the Qashqai e-Power is perceived almost like a fully electric car.
In addition to technical updates, the Qashqai received a Google built-in interface for the onboard system with integration of Google Maps, assistant, Play Store, weather forecast, and even Trip Stories features for recording trips in the NissanConnect app.
Among the new "features" is also the ProPilot system with improved lane and traffic recognition.
Production of the updated Nissan Qashqai e-Power started in July at the Nissan plant in Sunderland, UK.
