The American brand Timex has released a reissue of its first digital watch, the SSQ Quartz Digital, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the original model. The new model is called the Q Timex 1975 SSQ and maintains its vintage design, but features updated electronics and improved materials while remaining true to the spirit of minimalism.

What is known

The original SSQ became iconic for Timex: they were the company's first watches with an always-on LCD display, unlike the LED models of the time, which required a button press to display the time. In 2025, the brand decided to bring back the cult model in a modern version.

The reissue received a matte stainless steel case, two side buttons instead of the crown, water resistance up to 50 meters, and an always-on display showing the time, date, and timer.

The case dimensions are 38×13 mm, the bracelet width is 19 mm. Timex does not disclose the exact battery life, but the watch is powered by a CR2016 battery, just like the original.

The model is aimed at collectors, retro enthusiasts, and those who appreciate simplicity and reliability.

The updated watch is available in the USA at a price of $159 and in Japan. A global release is expected later.
