iFixit: Pixel Watch 4 — the most repair-friendly smartwatch in the world
The iFixit team disassembled the Pixel Watch 4 and concluded: it is the most repairable smartwatch they have ever tested. Unlike previous models, Pixel Watch 4 has a modular architecture, allowing easy replacement of individual components. For example, the screen can be removed without heating or special tools — just carefully disconnect it, and it can be replaced without the risk of damage. The battery is also accessible without complex disassembly: the back cover opens, and the battery is removed without the need to disassemble other parts of the casing.
Another important detail is that most sensors, buttons, and internal elements are designed as separate modules. This means that if one of them fails, there is no need to replace the entire device or resort to complex repairs — just replace the specific part.
Google has taken another step towards users and independent services: the company provided iFixit with official service documentation, significantly simplifying the repair process. Such openness is rare among wearable device manufacturers, who usually do not rush to share technical information.
As a result, Pixel Watch 4 received the highest repairability rating among all smartwatches that have ever passed through iFixit's hands — 9 out of 10. Specialists highly appreciated the use of screws instead of glue, modularity, and the easy replacement of the most vulnerable components — the display and battery.
