Brazil received an electric version of the Kwid styled after the facelifted Dacia Spring. The differences in design are minimal—only emblems and small details.

What is known

The Dacia Spring exists in international markets in various versions and even under different brands. Thus, the cheapest new electric car in Europe is technically related to the Renault Kwid—a hatchback that is predominantly sold with gasoline engines in other parts of the world, including Brazil. There, the small Kwid is also offered with an electric powertrain as the Kwid E-Tech Electric.

Until recently, the Brazilian version of the Kwid E-Tech Electric retained the old design. Now the model has followed the example of the Dacia Spring, which received a major update for the European market in 2024.

You need to look closely to distinguish the updated Kwid E-Tech Electric from the Dacia Spring. The plastic insert between the light units with LED daytime running lights has vertical rather than horizontal design elements. And, of course, the Renault diamond is there.

A similar situation is at the back. Between the rear lights is a black panel with vertical decorative elements instead of diagonal lines. The Dacia Spring has the full brand name there, while Renault has only the logo. The model name is placed directly below it, whereas in the Dacia Spring it can be found at the bottom left on the trunk lid. The light signatures remain unchanged.

The Renault Kwid E-Tech Electric inherited all the improvements that the Dacia Spring received in Europe in 2024. This means a completely new interior and new safety systems.

In Brazil, the Kwid E-Tech Electric has always been equipped with a 65-horsepower electric motor and a 26.8 kWh battery. Since then, this powertrain for the European market has been replaced with a new 100-horsepower variant with a new LFP battery. The manufacturer promises a range of up to 180 km in a mixed cycle according to the Brazilian INMETRO protocol.

In Brazil, the Renault Kwid E-Tech costs 99,990 Brazilian reals (about 15,830 euros at the current exchange rate). The standard equipment of the vehicle includes six airbags, 11 ADAS systems, including an automatic emergency braking system (AEBS), a traffic sign recognition system (TSR) with a speed warning function, a lane departure warning system (LDW) and a lane keeping system (LKA), as well as a rearview camera, front and rear parking sensors, and a multimedia system with wireless connectivity via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
