Another experienced employee has left Ubisoft — the company's vice president and the head of its main franchise, Assassin's Creed, Marc-Alexis Côté, has stepped down.

What is known

The first to report Côté's departure were IGN journalists, who learned of the event from a leaked internal letter addressed to employees of Vantage Studios — Ubisoft's newly formed subsidiary, which will handle the development of the Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, and Rainbow Six franchises.

It is noted that Marc-Alexis Côté left the studio voluntarily, declining a leadership role at Vantage Studios, which disappointed and even surprised many employees.

After the organizational restructuring announced in March 2025, Marc-Alexis Côté decided to pursue a new career outside of Ubisoft. We are saddened by his departure, but we are confident that our talented teams will maintain the solid foundation he helped create.

We deeply appreciate the impact Marc-Alexis had on us over the years, as well as his contributions to the development of the Assassin's Creed brand. His leadership qualities, creativity, and dedication have left an indelible mark on the hearts of our teams and players. We sincerely thank him for his work and wish him further success in all his endeavors.

Côté's career at Ubisoft began in 2005 as a junior programmer. He participated in the creation of the Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands engine, later became the lead level designer for Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, and then showcased his talent as the game director for Assassin's Creed III. He later became the creative director of Ubisoft Québec and the executive producer of the Assassin's Creed franchise.

It is currently unknown whether Marc-Alexis Côté will continue his career in the gaming industry.
