A major update for Google Photos on Android is being prepared with an advanced text editor in the Instagram style

Google is preparing a massive update to the photo editor in the Photos app for Android. According to an analysis of app version 7.49 code conducted by Android Authority, the company is testing advanced features that will appear in Google Photos, including new fonts, colors, and alignment inspired by Instagram Stories and Reels.

What is known

The Google Photos text editor will include:

• an expanded selection of multiple font styles reminiscent of Instagram but with unique names;
• instead of 7 basic shades, users will be offered dozens of new options with subtle gradations;
• you will be able to customize text placement - center, left, or right;
• the ability to highlight text with a colored background (highlight), like Instagram;
• users will be able to precisely edit images, for example, "removing" pimples and whitening teeth.

The planned features significantly exceed the current capabilities of Google Photos, where only one typeface and limited color choices without alignment are available.

All innovations are still in the testing phase and not available to the general public. Google may include them in a future video editor update, but there is no guarantee that they will appear in the public version.
