The reason is cited as difficulties with development and design, though there is no official confirmation yet.

According to the source, Samsung has already completed the development of the top model Galaxy S26 Ultra, while the base Galaxy S26 is not yet ready. This may explain the overall shift in timelines. Rumor has it that the Galaxy S26 Ultra will feature a 10-bit display and will run on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chipset, which will be manufactured by Samsung itself this time. The standard Galaxy S26, on the other hand, will be equipped with the new Exynos 2600, though versions with Snapdragon are likely to exist for certain regions.

The Galaxy S26 series is likely to include the S26, S26+, S26 Pro, and S26 Ultra models. At the same time, Samsung reportedly abandoned the Galaxy S26 Edge model—the previous S25 Edge model sold poorly, which could have influenced the decision.
