Porsche will change CEO for the first time in 10 years — the new leader will come from McLaren

The Supervisory Board of Porsche AG has appointed Dr. Michael Leiters as the company's CEO. He will take office on January 1, 2026. Dr. Oliver Blume, who has led Porsche AG for ten years, will continue as CEO of Volkswagen Group.

What is known

Dr. Wolfgang Porsche, head of the Supervisory Board of Porsche AG, said that Oliver Blume took on huge responsibility during difficult times and successfully managed the company. As CEO of Porsche AG, Oliver Blume ensured record financial results, an IPO, entry into new international markets, and successes in motorsport.

Oliver Blume himself stated that after ten years of leading Porsche AG, he decided to focus on Volkswagen Group.

“Significant changes in Porsche's largest markets — the USA and China — have presented new demands on our business model. Therefore, this year we restructured the company and comprehensively expanded the product strategy. With full flexibility in powertrain choice and improved cost structure, Porsche is now securely positioned for the future. In my role at Volkswagen Group, I will closely accompany and support Porsche's further development,” he added.

Who is Michael Leiters

Michael Leiters was the CEO of McLaren Automotive since July 2022, and before that, he spent more than eight years as the Chief Technical Officer of Ferrari.

Leiters is also familiar with Porsche AG. Before moving to Ferrari, he worked at Porsche for more than 13 years, overseeing the Macan and Cayenne lines.
