Media: Resident Evil 0 will indeed get a remake — Capcom will complement and expand the game's storyline
Rumors and assumptions have repeatedly appeared online that Capcom will release an updated version of the horror game Resident Evil 0 as one of the next remakes. The main source of this information was the insider Dusk Golem, whose reputation does not allow for unequivocal trust. However, now the authoritative publication MP1st has shared exclusive details about Capcom's plans.
What is known
MP1st journalists claim that about three years ago Capcom began work on a game under the code name Chamber — this fact alone hints at Resident Evil 0, since its main character was named Rebecca Chambers.
The Japanese company plans to release the remake by 2028, and as in other updated horrors of this franchise, some plot lines will be significantly changed and complemented. For example, the train conductor from the beginning of Resident Evil 0 was only mentioned in the original, whereas in the remake he will receive screen time and influence the narrative.
MP1st also has information about the cast. For instance, the second protagonist Billy Coen is allegedly played by Jon McLaren, who voiced Star-Lord in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy from Eidos-Montreal. The actors' movements are being captured by Beyond Capture Studios, which previously collaborated with Capcom on Street Fighter 6 and the Resident Evil 4 remake.
The MP1st material also notes that Dusk Golem's information that Resident Evil Code: Veronica will also get a remake and be released in 2027 is true.
