The final of the world's first autonomous car race driven by AI took place in China.
What's Known
The cars were controlled solely by artificial intelligence and had to navigate a challenging mountain course with a length of 10.77 kilometers, 99 turns, and an elevation difference of 1100 meters.
Seven university teams participated in the final, and the Tsinghua University team won the race, as their AI system best managed to control the high-speed car on the complex terrain.
It's hard to say what the future holds for such a championship, but at least this event confirmed that AI can effectively manage transportation.
