Less than two months have passed since the presentation in Munich, and BMW Group head Christian Ach reported that interest in the iX3 exceeded the company's most optimistic forecasts. «We received over 3000 orders for the iX3 in the first six weeks after its launch at the IAA in Munich,» he told Automobilwoche. It is most likely that this is about demand only in Germany.

What is Known

The new BMW iX3 is not even available for test drives yet. In Germany, the 2026 model year iX3 will cost from 68,900 euros. A more affordable version is expected next year, with a starting price closer to 60,000 euros.

At the start, only one modification of the iX3 will be available – the iX3 50 xDrive. It features two electric motors, which together produce 463 hp and 645 Nm of torque. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 4.7 seconds. The 108 kWh usable battery charges from 10% to 80% in 21 minutes and provides a range of 644 km according to the WLTP cycle.

In a conversation with Automobilwoche, Ach added that the planned production pace for the iX3 for 2026 "will not be able to meet the high demand."

The next model in the BMW Neue Klasse lineup will be the i3. Despite the familiar designation, this version will be a fully electric 3 Series, rather than the compact unusual hatchback or minivan that the previous car with the same name was.
