Startup Prolo has unveiled an unusual input device — the smart Prolo Ring, which can replace the traditional mouse and expand management capabilities for a computer, smartphone, or tablet.

What's known

The Prolo Ring is not a typical smart ring and does not track the user's health or activity. Its task is different — to rethink and simplify interactions with digital devices.

The ring is worn on a finger and allows you to control the cursor, perform actions, and launch macros using gestures and touches: a single tap generates a click, two touches open a file, and a long press replaces the right mouse button. Interestingly, the gadget allows interaction with the interface without removing your right hand from the keyboard.

Technical features of the Prolo Ring:

  • built-in trackpad — cursor movement is carried out by moving the thumb across the ring's touch surface;
  • 6-axis motion sensor recognizes up to 40 gestures, including tilts, turns, taps, and rotations;
  • macro support — the Pro version features a scenario constructor for automating actions.

The device is compatible with PCs, smartphones, tablets, and is suitable for presentations, photo editing, interface management, and even gaming. The Prolo Ring connects via Bluetooth without additional software.

The developers have provided several Prolo Ring models, the simplest being the basic ($99) — suitable for basic control, not supporting custom gestures and standard ($129) — includes advanced features, gesture customization, and macros.

The Prolo Ring is especially relevant for those working in limited spaces, frequently giving presentations, or wanting to free their hands from traditional peripheral devices. The device has already caught the interest of designers, educators, and multimedia enthusiasts.

Anyone interested can support the development and release of the Prolo Ring on Kickstarter.

The manufacturer has not yet announced the exact start date of sales, but the device is already being showcased at exhibitions and is available for pre-order via Kickstarter.
