Aura Ink — a digital photo frame visible both day and night
Aura Ink has introduced a new digital photo frame that combines the aesthetics of a printed photo in a frame with the advantages of a modern electronic display. The device is equipped with a 13.3-inch color e-ink Spectra 6 display with a resolution of 1600 × 1200 pixels and a 4:3 aspect ratio. Such a screen requires no backlight, consumes energy only when changing the image, and looks almost like paper — like Kindle Colorsoft.
Thanks to this technological solution, the frame can operate for up to three months on a single charge. The only factor that shortens this period is the presence of frontal backlighting for viewing in the dark. An integrated light sensor automatically turns off the backlight in a dark room. Charging is via USB-C.
Aura Ink supports Wi-Fi and allows for unlimited photo uploads via the Aura Frames mobile app. Switching between images is performed by pressing a button. A subscription is not required, but there is a risk the device may stop working if the company's servers are shut down.
The price of the frame in the USA is $499. As of publication, the manufacturer does not ship to Europe.
