Media: Using A20 Chip Will Lead to Significant Price Increase for Next Generation iPhone

In 2025, Apple released the iPhone 17 line, where the Pro and Air versions were more expensive than their 2024 counterparts (16 Pro and 16 Plus). However, it is expected that next year, smartphones of the American corporation will become even significantly more expensive.

What is known

China Times published an article stating that future models of Apple's smartphones will use the A20 chip, which is made using TSMC's 2nm process. This chip will be at least 50% more expensive than the one created with the 3nm process, which, in turn, will inevitably affect the price of the iPhone.

TSMC and its partners are significantly increasing their spending on producing 2nm chips and hope to recoup their investments, including through a contract with Apple.
