Bethesda has announced the release date for the major free update Burning Springs for the popular online game Fallout 76.

What's known

The American developer has announced that the Burning Springs update, which is closely tied to the second season of the Fallout series, will be released on December 2, just a couple of weeks before Amazon's premiere.

Burning Springs will offer the largest map expansion in Fallout 76 history, giving players the chance to explore the state of Ohio on foot, rather than through loading screens as it was before. There will be new quests, enemies, world bosses, and unique factions. Players will encounter intelligent super mutants, tamed armored Deathclaws, and even a radioactive boar. Interestingly, the main antagonist of the new storyline will be Rust King, a sentient super mutant with dictatorial ambitions.

However, the star of the update will be the Ghoul — the central character of the Fallout series played by Walton Goggins. The developers of Fallout 76 aim to reveal more about the Ghoul's back story and character. Completing his quest chain will reward players with the charismatic character's weapon. Moreover, the Ghoul will introduce a new activity: "Head Hunts."

Additionally, the developers have announced that at the beginning of 2026, Fallout 76 will receive enhanced versions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series, which fans of the game have long been requesting.
