For the first time on PlayStation and without multiplayer: Microsoft officially announced the remake of Halo: Combat Evolved
After a huge number of rumors, Microsoft and Halo Studios (formerly 343 Industries) announced a remake of the iconic shooter Halo: Combat Evolved, which was released in 2001 and not only became one of the main Xbox franchises, but also made a significant contribution to the development of the genre.
What is known
In 2011, the first part of Halo already received a remaster, but now gamers will be offered a full-fledged remake, which received the subtitle Campaign Evolved.
It is worth noting immediately that such a name was chosen deliberately, as the developers abandoned the multiplayer mode and rethought only the campaign to show it in a new way and introduce it to a modern audience.
In Halo: Campaign Evolved, graphics, lighting, and sound accompaniment have been significantly improved, but the authors did not stop at cosmetic improvements and made changes to the gameplay. The remake added new mechanics, reworked the control system, introduced weapons from other parts of Halo, and the plot was expanded with three additional missions, the events of which unfold before the start of the main story.
In addition to the single-player mode, cooperative mode for up to four players and a split-screen mode for two people are provided.
Numerous rumors were confirmed: Halo will be released for the first time on PlayStation, and although this circumstance causes confusion and anger among many Xbox fans, Microsoft’s business strategy has long left no room for exclusives.
When to expect
The release of Halo: Campaign Evolved is scheduled for 2026 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series, as well as in Game Pass.
