YouTube has found a solution to the problem that perhaps all active video hosting users encounter.

Many old videos are uploaded in low resolution, and no matter how interesting they are, watching them on modern large displays is uncomfortable. To eliminate this drawback, the service is launching a new feature - Super Resolution.

What is known

Super Resolution is based on AI technologies and will automatically enhance the quality of low-resolution videos, for example, 240p or 480p.

In essence, it will be upscaling, where AI will analyze the image and automatically fill in the missing pixels, making the picture clearer and more detailed.

For now, Super Resolution is only available on TVs and in limited regions, but it probably won't be long before this option appears on other devices.

Importantly, content creators do not need to make any additional manipulations with their videos, as all necessary computations will be conducted on YouTube's servers, and the original versions of the videos are preserved and available at any time.

If desired, the Super Resolution feature can be disabled.
