Las Vegas Police Form First Patrol Fleet of Tesla Cybertruck
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) has introduced the world’s first patrol fleet consisting entirely of Tesla Cybertruck electric pickups. A total of ten upgraded electric cars equipped with sirens, special signals, and other equipment for round-the-clock service have been purchased for the city’s needs.
What is known
The Cybertrucks were converted into police vehicles by the technical division of Unplugged Performance. The project is financed by private partners, not by taxpayers.
LVMPD states that the Tesla Cybertruck was chosen not only for its striking appearance. With its stainless steel body, powerful dual-motor setup, and adaptive suspension, the pickup is suitable for complex tasks—from pursuits to responding to emergencies. The electric vehicles also attract city services with their low operating costs and quiet operation.
For Tesla, this event turned into an opportunity to showcase the real advantages of the Cybertruck in an important public sphere.
The first Cybertrucks will start patrolling as early as next month. All vehicles comply with local and federal laws, and their equipment level meets police standards. If the experiment is successful and the electric cars prove reliable and efficient, similar fleets may appear in other US cities.
