BYD Sealion 06 surpassed the milestone of 100,000 produced cars in 100 days

The Chinese automaker BYD achieved a significant milestone with the Sealion 06 SUV model, producing 100,000 units in just 100 days after hitting the market. The model, presented on July 24, 2025, replaced the previous Sealion 6 iteration and became the fastest-selling BYD car in the company's history across all segments.

What is known

The cost of the BYD Sealion 06 ranges from 139,800 to 163,800 yuan (approximately from 19,300 to 22,620 US dollars) depending on the configuration. The car is available in two versions: all-electric (EV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV), with the exterior design remaining the same for all versions.

The dimensions of the SUV are: length 4,810 mm, width 1,920 mm, height 1,675 mm, wheelbase — 2,820 mm. The exterior design is in the signature style of the BYD Ocean series, with a closed front, two-level headlights, a wave-shaped LED rear panel, and semi-hidden door handles.

The electric versions are based on the BYD e-Platform 3.0 Evo and come with systems operating at voltages of 400 V and 800 V. The basic electric car is equipped with a battery capacity of 65.28 kWh, power of 170 kW, and torque of 330 Nm, providing a CLTC cycle range of 520 km. More expensive models with an 800-volt system are equipped with a 78.72 kWh battery, a motor with a power of 180 kW, and have a range of up to 605 km. Fast charging with a power of up to 237 kW is supported, with energy consumption about 12.5 kWh per 100 km.

The plug-in hybrids are equipped with a fifth-generation DM-i system with a 1.5-liter engine with a power of 74 kW and an electric motor of 160 kW. Battery capacity varies from 18.3 to 26.6 kWh, giving an electric range from 121 to 170 km on CLTC, and a total range on the combination of fuel and electricity reaches up to 1670 km.

Standard equipment for the BYD Sealion 06 includes a partially automated God’s Eye driving system and advanced safety features with seven airbags and more than 30 protective functions. The interior features a 15.6-inch touchscreen display, digital instrument panel, ventilated front seats, and a panoramic sunroof with an area of 1.73 square meters. The luggage compartment volume reaches 1630 liters with the rear seats folded.
