Apple plans to release the iOS 26.1 update with a new setting that will allow reducing the visual effect of Liquid Glass. According to Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, the release may happen as early as Monday, and the first beta version of iOS 26.2 for developers is expected on Tuesday.

What is known

The Liquid Glass effect was introduced at WWDC 2025 as a key element of the new iOS design. After testing, some users noted readability issues and animation delays. In the fourth beta version of iOS 26.1, Apple already added the ability to apply a tinted effect, and now they are preparing a separate switch to control this visual element.

The iOS 26.1 update will also include an updated Apple TV icon and bug fixes. According to Gurman, the update will be more stable and contain fewer bugs.

It is expected that after the release of iOS 26.1, updates for macOS 26.1 and the first beta version of watchOS 26.2 will appear on a similar schedule.
