On November 3, 2025, Xpeng Motors subsidiary Aridge announced the launch of a modular flying car factory. The first units of the 'Land Carrier' have come off the assembly line in Guangzhou, China, and will be used for test flights and production process debugging.

What is known

The plant covers an area of approximately 120,000 square meters. It specializes in producing the modular Xpeng flying car, which consists of two parts: the ground module and the air module. The ground module ('mother vehicle') has three axles, six wheels, and an all-wheel-drive system.

The vehicle dimensions are about 5.5 meters in length, 2 meters in width, and 2 meters in height. The car can be parked in standard spaces and operated with a regular driver's license. The flying module is an electric structure with six rotors and a carbon fiber fuselage.

The flying car can be operated manually (with one hand via a joystick) or in autonomous mode: intelligent route planning, automatic flight on a set path, one-button takeoff and landing, '3D vision,' and landing assistance are available.

The plant's infrastructure includes five key workshops: composite production, aircraft drive systems, assembly, painting, and final integration. The fuselage is assembled using cold fastening and rivets; painting is done on an automated line in eight layers, and final integration covers nine main systems with tests for aviation standards compliance.

The production is based on the principles of 'precision, automation, and ecology': solar energy is used, energy consumption is optimized, and digital management systems are implemented to reduce CO2 emissions. At maximum capacity, the plant can produce up to 10,000 units per year.

Mass deliveries of the Xpeng flying car are expected in 2026.
