Soon after the global release of the ultra-thin Motorola Edge 70 smartphone with a high degree of protection, an excellent camera set, and a brighter display, the company announced the launch of budget smartphones Moto G 2026 and Moto G Play 2026 in western markets.

What is known

Both models are aimed at users who value basic functions, reliability, and affordability. They are almost indistinguishable from each other, but the Moto G model has more attractive features.

The smartphones have a 6.7" display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 1000 nits. The battery capacity is 5200mAh, however, the Moto G supports faster 30W wired charging, while the Play is limited to only 18W, yet the latter is the first in the line of super-budget smartphones from Motorola to have a 5G module.

There is also a difference in the cameras:

  • Moto G 2026 is equipped with a 50MP main sensor with Quad Pixel technology and a 32MP front camera;
  • Moto G Play 2026 has a 32MP main and 8MP front cameras.

The gadget screens are protected by Gorilla Glass 3 coating, and their bodies are certified to IP52 standard, which will protect them from splashes but not from immersion in water.

Moto G 2026 and Moto G Play 2026 support basic AI photography functions, Google Gemini, and come with Android 16.

According to the Motorola website, Moto G 2026 will go on sale from December 11 at a price of $200, and Moto G Play 2026 from November 13 at a price of $170.
