The fourth-generation Renault Twingo is set for its debut on November 6, but photos of the car appeared online in advance. The small city electric car retains the charm of the original 1992 model, and its design almost completely repeats the 2023 concept with minor changes such as traditional door handles, wheel covers, and modified bumpers with protective plastic for everyday use.

What is known

The new Twingo retains the 'froggy' headlights, compact monolithic silhouette, and rounded rear end, now extended into a five-door body. This is a successful work by the Renault design team, which also created the retro-futuristic Renault 5.

The production car's interior echoes the spirit of the concept, but the materials have become more practical: premium coverings are replaced by plastic, and the seats are upholstered in durable fabric. The front panel houses a multimedia system screen above the climate control unit like the brand's Dacia cars. Physical controls for settings remain on both the central console and the steering wheel.

Unlike previous generations, the new Twingo will be offered exclusively with electric drive on the AmpR Small architecture (former CMF-BEV), which the Renault-Nissan alliance uses for models like the Renault 5, Renault 4, and Nissan Micra. The exact technical specifications have not been announced yet, but a single electric motor and a small battery based on lithium iron phosphate technology are expected.

On the European market, Twingo will compete with electric vehicles like the Dacia Spring, Leapmotor T03, as well as future models Volkswagen ID.Every1 and the new Nissan. It will also overlap with budget B-class models like Fiat Grande Panda and Citroën e-C3.

Previously, Renault promised that the starting price of the new Twingo would be below €20,000 before subsidies, and leasing might cost around €100 ($115) per month. All details will be officially revealed on November 6 along with technical data and European launch plans.
