Chinese Jaecoo 7 surpasses Nissan Qashqai in sales for the first time in the UK
In October, 2611 units of the Jaecoo 7 crossover were registered in the UK. The traditionally popular Nissan Qashqai in this segment came second to its Chinese competitor with 2461 units. This is indicated by the statistics of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).
What is known
The impressive result of the Jaecoo 7 signifies the growing interest of consumers in new Chinese cars amid established competitors, reported Autocar.
If we look at the statistics of the last three months, Qashqai still leads with 10,721 registrations, but Jaecoo 7 is not far behind with 10,467 cars. Throughout 2025, 35,250 units of Qashqai and 21,021 units of Jaecoo 7, which went on sale only from January, have been sold in the country. Considering the current pace, Jaecoo 7 has all the chances to enter the top 10 best-selling models of the year in its debut season. Currently, the tenth place is held by the Volvo XC40 with 25,106 registrations.
Oli Lowe, head of Jaecoo UK, notes the attractive design, competitive prices, and hybrid engine with an electric range of up to 90 km as key advantages of the model. The development of the dealer network is also significant.
Jaecoo is one of the many brands of the Chery company. Prices for the crossover start at £29,435 (€33,420) for the front-wheel-drive petrol version and £35,065 (€39,820) for the plug-in hybrid (PHEV). The all-wheel-drive petrol version "starts" at £32,850 (€37,300).
In total, 144,948 new cars were registered in the UK in October, 0.5% more than a year ago. The greatest growth is in electric vehicles and hybrids: sales increased by 23.6% and 27.2%, respectively. Sales of petrol and diesel cars continue to decline.
