Tinder is testing the Chemistry feature, which, with user permission, will access photos from the phone camera for better match selection.

What is known

Tinder, the popular dating app, plans to use artificial intelligence to improve user interaction and increase engagement, amidst nine consecutive quarters of declining paid subscriptions. Match Group informed investors that the Chemistry feature is currently being tested in Australia and New Zealand, and will become a key element of the Tinder update in 2026.

The feature will use interactive questions and, with user consent, view photos from the gallery to better understand their interests. For example, if there are hiking photos among the images, Tinder may suggest matches who are also into outdoor activities.

Along with this, Match has warned of financial consequences: testing new features will reduce Tinder's direct revenue by $14 million in the fourth quarter. The total revenue forecast is $865–875 million, which is below the expected $884.2 million.

Tinder also applies AI for message moderation (the "Are you sure?" prompt before potentially offensive texts) and selecting the best profile photos. Among other innovations are "date modes," double dates, enhanced face verification, and updated profile design.
