Stagnation of Samsung Cameras Will Continue: Galaxy S26 Ultra Will Not Impress with Photo Capabilities
For many years, Samsung has boasted about the cameras of its flagship smartphones, emphasized by the slogan “Our cameras are always a step ahead of our competitors.” However, in recent years, Samsung smartphone sensors not only offer nothing new but often fall behind other camera phones in many aspects.
Unfortunately, new insider information indicates that camera stagnation will continue into 2026, and the Galaxy S26 Ultra will not be able to impress with its photo capabilities.
What is Known
An insider under the nickname Semi-retired-ing claims that Samsung does not plan significant changes in the cameras, which might disappoint fans expecting a technological breakthrough, and the top model of the next smartphone lineup will almost not receive innovations compared to the S25 Ultra.
According to the leak, the Galaxy S26 Ultra will receive:
- main sensor HP2 at 200 MP, which will remain unchanged;
- ultra-wide camera at 50 MP JN3;
- periscopic telephoto camera at 50 MP IMX854 with 5x zoom;
- front camera at 12 MP IMX874.
The only significant novelty — the 3x telephoto lens will now use the Samsung S5K3LD sensor at 12 MP instead of the previous 10 MP, and also the Galaxy S26 Ultra will support the new video recording format APV (Advanced Photo Video):
- APV HQ — up to 1.5 GB per minute;
- APV LQ — up to 750 MB per minute.
This may improve video quality, especially for professional tasks and high-resolution content.
The official premiere of the Samsung Galaxy S26 lineup is expected on February 25, 2026, at the Galaxy Unpacked event. But this is unofficial information, so changes are possible.
