The Danish government announced its intention to ban social networks for users under the age of 15. This initiative was supported by all political parties in the country.

What is Known

According to the plan, the Ministry of Digitalization will set a minimum age for access to several social platforms. The list of services to which the new law applies is not currently disclosed. It is also unclear how compliance with age restrictions will be monitored.

A statement from the ministry mentions the problems children and teenagers face in the digital environment: sleep disturbances, loss of concentration, emotional pressure, and lack of adult supervision. Digitalization Minister Karolina Stage stated that the country is setting clear boundaries on the issue of digital safety for young people.

Similar processes are also taking place in other countries. In Australia, a nationwide ban on social networks for people under the age of 16 will take effect in December. In the United States, some states have already adopted or are considering similar restrictions.
