Media: Foldable iPhone will be the first in the world to get a 24 MP under-display front camera
New interesting information has appeared online about the first foldable iPhone model—a new product from Apple may revolutionize the under-display camera segment.
What is known
According to a JP Morgan analytical report reviewed by MacRumors journalists, the iPhone Fold will become the first smartphone in the world to feature a 24 MP under-display camera.
Similar cameras have been used in Android smartphones for several years, but their resolution rarely exceeds 4-8 MP, resulting in photos and videos of suboptimal quality. Thus, a 24 MP camera hidden under the display could, without exaggeration, become a technological breakthrough and set a new standard for high-end smartphone manufacturers. Meanwhile, let us recall that Apple's main competitor in the premium smartphone market, Samsung, does not plan to impress with camera innovations in its flagship Galaxy S26 Ultra.
However, analysts note that to implement Apple's ambitious idea, a number of technical compromises had to be made, in particular, the company abandoned the use of LiDAR and optical image stabilization (OIS) in the main camera.
There was also earlier information that the foldable iPhone will not have Face ID, and will be replaced by Touch ID integrated into the side button.
The iPhone Fold presentation is expected in the fall of 2026, but there is a high probability that Apple will delay the release of the smartphone until 2027.
