The launch of Blue Origin's New Glenn rocket, scheduled for Sunday, did not take place. It was postponed due to weather conditions, technical problems on the launch pad, and the presence of a cruise ship in the flight area.

What is known

The launch of Blue Origin's New Glenn rocket from Cape Canaveral (Florida) was scheduled to take place at 14:45 local time and would have lasted 90 minutes. The launch time was changed several times due to weather conditions. Close to the start, the Blue Origin team was almost ready for the launch when a cruise ship unexpectedly entered the flight area. Although the vessel was supposed to leave the area before preparations were completed, the weather remained unstable, and the company decided to cancel the launch.

The next Blue Origin launch attempt will take place no earlier than Wednesday, November 12th. The company reported that they are taking weather conditions into account in planning. Additionally, the situation is complicated by restrictions imposed by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) due to the government shutdown.

This is the first commercial mission of Jeff Bezos' (Blue Origin) New Glenn rocket. It will launch the NASA ESCAPADE spacecraft into space, from where it will begin its journey to Mars. Additionally, New Glenn will carry a technology demonstrator for Viasat, which is part of another space agency project. Moreover, Blue Origin hopes to return the rocket booster to a platform in the ocean for the first time.
