The release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 has taken place.

The new shooter is already available on PC and two generations of PlayStation and Xbox consoles, and is also presented in the Game Pass catalog. The first reviews of the new part of the series were mixed, and while critics' reactions are favorable, gamers are relentlessly criticizing the game.

What is known

Let's start with the opinion of critics. They note that Black Ops 7 has excellent multiplayer and an exciting Zombie Mode, but the story campaign turned out to be frankly weak and awkward even by the standards of the recent parts of Call of Duty. However, fans of this franchise come for the bright online matches, and this aspect will not disappoint them in the new part.

Ratings for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 from experts look quite optimistic:

  • Metacritic — 84 points (PC);
  • OpenCritic — 80 points with 83% recommendations.

As for gamers' opinions, we traditionally refer to Steam, where Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 has so far received 55% positive reviews.

The majority of complaints are the classics of Call of Duty and are repeated year after year: overall repetitiveness, poor optimization, unjustifiably high price, ineffectiveness of anti-cheat. But Black Ops 7 also added something new — the orientation of the story campaign toward cooperative play, and if there is no desire to play with others, the shooter imposes bots, which are more harmful than helpful.

Peak online on Steam is also depressing, especially compared to the new shooters Battlefield 6 and ARC Raiders — 63 thousand considering the online of several other parts of the series. However, for objectivity, it should be noted that the shooter is presented in Game Pass and most players prefer access by subscription.

In summary, we note that analysts and gamers who predicted Call of Duty: Black Ops 7's defeat in the battle with Battlefield 6 were absolutely right — the shooter from EA attracts significantly more attention than the new product from Activision.
