Overview Trailer for The Blood of Dawnwalker Demonstrates Variability and Non-linearity in the New Game from the Creators of The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077
Bandai Namco and the Polish studio Rebel Wolves, founded by CD Projekt veterans, presented the second part of a large overview of the ambitious action-RPG The Blood of Dawnwalker.
Recall, in the first video, the authors revealed details of the combat system, the nuances of progressing through the story, and explained their approach to crafting dialogues, and now they focus gamers' attention on one of the most vital aspects of any complex RPG — non-linearity.
What is known
Rebel Wolves reminded that being half-vampire, half-human, the main character Cohen belongs to both communities and can use the advantages of his forms. In the published 20-minute video, the protagonist searches for a legendary sword and, using this quest as an example, the developers showed that players can wait for the night and use vampiric abilities, but then many people will suffer, or in daylight, Cohen can blend into the crowd and complete the task almost bloodlessly. Whichever option the gamer chooses — they will inevitably face the consequences of their decisions, and they will not always be predictable.
This kind of variability will be present in almost all quests of The Blood of Dawnwalker, making each playthrough unique and memorable.
For those unaware
The plot of The Blood of Dawnwalker centers around a clan of ancient Carpathian vampires. In the 14th century, Europe was ravaged by the plague, but vampires are immune to this disease and can even save mortals, but this will result not only in the expansion of vampires' power but also in the partial transformation of humans into bloodsuckers.
The main character of the game, Cohen, a peasant, is forced to seek the help of vampires and partially became one of them. Now he is torn between his humanity and his new vampiric nature, and only the player's actions will determine which side of the scale will tip.
When to expect
The release of The Blood of Dawnwalker is scheduled for 2026 on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5.
