Samsung is heavily investing in foldable smartphones, aiming to make them as powerful, energy-efficient, and compact as possible.

The first information about the Galaxy Z Flip8, the 2026 foldable flagship, has appeared online.

What is known

The South Korean edition The Bell reported that Samsung plans to significantly reduce the thickness of the Galaxy Z Flip8 compared to the 2025 model.

Journalists have learned that in the folded state, the new Samsung device will have a thickness of only 9.8 mm, which is 30% less than the dimensions of the current generation smartphone, while the display diagonal will again be 6.9″. The external display is also likely to undergo no significant changes.

To illustrate: the main competitor of the Flip7 in the vertical folding smartphone segment, the Motorola Razr 60 Ultra, has a thickness of 7.2 mm in the unfolded state. Therefore, the new Samsung device in the folded form will be only 2.6 mm thicker than the current Motorola model in the unfolded state. Although it is not excluded that Motorola could also ensure the compactness of the next Razr model.

The Galaxy Z Flip8 presentation is expected in the summer of 2026.
