Belkin recalls thousands of chargers due to fire risk
Belkin has announced the official recall of several models of external batteries and an iPhone charging station due to an issue with lithium-ion power cells that can overheat, posing a risk of burns and fires.
What is known
According to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), two models of the BoostCharge 20K USB-C PD external battery, namely BPB002 and PB0003, as well as the Auto-Tracking Stand Pro charging station for iPhone with model number MMA008, are subject to recall. Belkin reports that the internal battery in these devices can overheat under certain conditions, which constitutes the main threat.
Approximately 83,500 units were withdrawn in the US, with an additional 2,385 in Canada. All mentioned products were sold from August 2020 to August 2025. In total, 15 cases of overheating were recorded worldwide, two of which resulted in minor burns, and one case caused a fire. The total material damage amounts to $37,765.
Belkin also emphasizes that hazardous devices should only be disposed of at certified lithium-ion battery recycling centers. Disposing of them in regular trash is strictly prohibited.
This is not the first such incident for the company. Last year, Belkin already recalled another charger model due to a similar threat. Issues with external batteries have also occurred with other major brands, including Anker, Baseus, and SnapWireless.
