Casio has released a special model of the G-Shock Mudman GW-9502KJ-8 watch, created in collaboration with the international environmental organization Earthwatch Japan.

What's Known

The novelty is made in an emphatically brutal style and is aimed at extreme lovers, fans of an active lifestyle, and those who, due to circumstances, need unbreakable watches.

The case and strap of the G-Shock Mudman GW-9502KJ-8 are made of bioplastic with a texture that imitates hippo skin — a representative of a vanishing species, which inspired the design.

The buttons of the watch are coated with ion plating with pink gold. The strap is inscribed with Earthwatch Japan's motto "Change the World. Yourself," which is repeated on the back cover and illuminated with a white LED when the backlight is activated.

The G-Shock Mudman GW-9502KJ-8 is part of the Master of G-Land series and offers the familiar functionality, strength, mud and moisture resistance for which the Japanese brand is known, as well as solar charging support and radio synchronization.

Accurate time is ensured by the Multi-Band 6 system. The built-in triple sensors measure direction, pressure, altitude and temperature. The watch can store a pressure change schedule, has altitude memory, a world time zone for 48 cities, a 1/10 second stopwatch with a limit of 1000 hours, a 24-hour timer, and five alarms. The watch is resistant to temperatures from -10 to +60°C. The battery charge lasts about six months without solar recharging and up to 26 months in power-saving mode.

The watch is currently only available on the Japanese market, but given the interest in limited series G-Shock, an international release is expected.

The cost of the G-Shock Mudman in Japan is $420 (converted from yen).
